Know The Symptoms

Boys with this condition tend to be hyperactive more often than girls, seeming to have difficulty sitting still. Both girls and boys may have trouble completing tasks that require focus. They may only be able to channel in for a short length of time.

How We Diagnose It

When you bring your child in, we'll ask you a series of questions you'll need to fill out. If your child has a number of those issues, it could be ADHD. We'll further the examination by verbally asking you other questions.

Treating ADHD

The first line of defense when it comes to treatment is behavioral therapy. We'll give you useful tips that can help you contend with the problems you're having with your child. These can assist in curbing the behaviors and making it easier for your child to focus. 

We encourage parents, though they may be frustrated at times, to remain calm during interactions with their children. When you aren't calm, you can actually make matters worse.

Though we don't recommend it as a first-line treatment, medicine sometimes is the only option that'll ease the symptoms in your child and help them focus, especially for school. The medication your child will receive is a stimulant. Though they're referred to as stimulants, in a child with ADHD, they don't provide stimulation. Instead, they stimulate the brain to increase the neurotransmitters, dopamine and norepinephrine, which can calm your child and make it easier for them to focus.
